Ravenwood is back in the state football rankings after rattling off five consecutive victories.
The Raptors re-entered the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Class 6A poll at No. 9, tied with Green Hill at 25 points apiece, according to the Williamson Herald. The rankings were released Monday, Oct. 19. Neither team was ranked the previous week.
The milestone caps a turnaround for the Brentwood school. Ravenwood (6-2) rose as high as No. 2 in the TSWA poll after a Week 1 win, then slid to No. 10 after starting 1-2. The Raptors dropped out of the rankings entirely before stringing together five straight region wins in Region 6-6A play.
The streak began Sept. 11 with a 28-0 shutout of Summit. Head coach Ricky Rodriguez, now in his second season, spoke after that game about his team's early struggles.
"We challenged our kids this week and they responded," Rodriguez told the Williamson Herald in September after the Summit win evened Ravenwood's record at 2-2.
The latest victory, a 42-7 rout of Shelbyville Central on Friday, Oct. 16, showed how far the offense has come. Junior quarterback Brooks Brown and senior running back Caden Pace have anchored the attack since the region opener. Brown completed 17 of 22 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns in the Summit shutout, and Pace returned from an early-season injury that same game to rush for 76 yards and a score.
Ravenwood reached the Class 6A state championship game in December 2025 before falling to Oakland 62-21. The Raptors lost more than 40 seniors to graduation and entered the season with only a handful of returning starters. Transfer defensive lineman Ayden Woodruff, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound junior who helped lead Battle Ground Academy to the Division II-AA state title last season, has bolstered the defense.
Other area teams held steady in the Oct. 19 poll. Brentwood (7-1) stayed at No. 6 in Class 6A with 99 points. Nolensville (8-0) remained No. 6 in Class 5A with 104 points. Page (7-1) kept the top spot in 5A with 185 points and 17 first-place votes. Brentwood Academy (6-2) held at No. 2 in Division II-AAA. All four were idle in Week 9.
Coffee County is next for Ravenwood in Region 6-6A play.
