Ravenwood hosts Shelbyville Central in a Region 6A-6 game at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood.
The Raptors enter the matchup ranked No. 16 in Tennessee, according to On3's Massey Ratings published Oct. 4, when the team held a 5-2 record. Ravenwood reached the TSSAA 6A BlueCross Bowl state championship game last December as an undefeated 13-0 squad, according to MTSU Sidelines. The Columbia Daily Herald identified the Raptors as "last season's 6A state runner up" in its Week 7 preview.
That 2025 playoff run included a Region 6A-6 championship and wins over Cane Ridge, Houston, White Haven and Southwind, MTSU Sidelines reported. The Raptors' championship-game roster featured a two-quarterback system with Femi Babaola, a Boston College signee, and Maverick Chance, a Navy signee, both taking snaps each drive.
Shelbyville Central enters with a 1-6 record.
The Eagles are 0-4 in Region 6A-6 play, ranked 210th in Tennessee by MaxPreps as of Oct. 15. They carry a six-game losing streak dating to their Aug. 27 loss to Marshall County.
Shelbyville's lone win came in the season opener, a 13-10 double-overtime victory over Tullahoma on Aug. 21, according to the team's MaxPreps schedule. The losses since: 43-22 to Marshall County, 42-0 to Franklin in a region game, 56-42 to Independence, 43-13 to Brentwood, 20-19 to Summit and 21-19 to Clarksville on Oct. 9.
Two of those defeats came by two points or fewer. Shelbyville fell 20-19 to Summit on Sept. 25 and 21-19 to Clarksville, per scores published by Yahoo Sports/Tennessean.
Region standings loom large as the regular season winds down. The Tennessean noted that fall break has thinned the Week 9 schedule across Middle Tennessee, making each remaining region contest count.
After Friday, Shelbyville plays at Hendersonville on Oct. 23 and closes region play at Coffee County Central on Oct. 30, per its MaxPreps schedule.
