Judge Bean's BBQ, the Texas-style smokehouse at 7022 Church Street East, will close permanently on Saturday, Nov. 14, ending a 16-year run in Brentwood.

The restaurant announced the closure in a message to customers, first reported by Williamson Source. No reason was given for the shutdown.

The restaurant said it was closing its doors for good on Nov. 14. A farewell party will begin at 5 p.m. that day and run until closing, with additional celebration details to come.

Judge Bean's hosted family celebrations, retirement parties, weddings and community events over the years. It ran an annual chili cook-off and prepared Thanksgiving turkeys for customers during the holidays.

The restaurant described itself as the "Cheers" bar of Brentwood, a place where regulars gathered to share meals and catch up with friends.

In its farewell message, Nick and the Judge Bean's BBQ family thanked current and former employees, longtime customers and regulars. The restaurant wrote: "To everyone who has made Bean's feel like home, thank you. You've given this double wide its heart."

Bobby Burton and Andy Johnson took over the restaurant in 2010, according to Hoodline, which cited earlier Williamson Source coverage. Nick Anneken has identified himself as the owner on the company's website, saying he took over in 2022.

The Brentwood location is not the first Judge Bean's to close. A Franklin location at 509 Hillsboro Road, which opened in 2017 under Burton and Johnson, shut down while the original restaurant remained open, Williamson Source reported at the time. The restaurant said the Franklin spot never became a sustainable business.

Judge Bean's BBQ remains open at 7022 Church Street East through its final day on Nov. 14.
