Golf: Bruins open district tournament after 2-2 regular season

The boys golf team, which has won four state titles since 2015 and finished as state runner-up in 2025, enters the district tournament after a competitive fall. In their most recent outing Sept. 15 at Richland Country Club, the Bruins fell to Page by two strokes, 152-150, according to team records on The Bruin Nation.

George Laskaris led Brentwood that day with a 1-under 34. Tripp Goodrich carded a 36, while Ben Baas and Fred Halloran each posted 41.

The boys squad went 2-2 in regular-season dual matches. A highlight came Aug. 25, when birdies from Dash Formby and Goodrich decided a playoff hole after Brentwood and Centennial tied at 153.

On the girls side, Emma Schroder and Katelyn Verni have paced Brentwood all season. Schroder shot 45 and Verni 50 in the Sept. 15 loss to Page, the reigning girls state champions, according to The Bruin Nation. No venue or tee times for the district tournament were available as of publication.

Volleyball: Bruins face Independence after two-match skid

Head coach Sarah Rucker's volleyball team hosts Independence at 6 p.m., with JV action beginning at 4:30 p.m. Brentwood swept the Eagles 3-0 on Sept. 1 but has dropped two straight, falling to Franklin 0-3 on Sept. 9 and to Page 1-3 on Sept. 17, per The Bruin Nation schedule.

The schedule stays packed after the Independence match. Brentwood hosts Ravenwood on Wednesday, Sept. 23, then travels to Centennial on Thursday, Sept. 24. The district tournament begins Monday, Oct. 5.

Girls soccer still chasing first district win

The Brentwood girls soccer team stood at 4-3-1 overall and 0-2-1 in District 10-AAA as of its Sept. 11 draw with Page, the Williamson Herald reported.

That was a hard-fought match. Junior McKenna Myers scored in the 16th minute off a corner kick from junior Ayla Clark. Page equalized in the 45th minute, and sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Schmitt made several key saves.

"Our girls fought hard and played a full 80," head coach Maggie McLaughlin told the Williamson Herald after the Sept. 11 draw. "It was a team effort … we had lots of chances."

Schmitt's saves and the Myers-Clark connection on set pieces will be ones to watch as the Bruins push for their first district victory down the stretch.
