Three Brentwood High School programs compete Tuesday, Sept. 29, each chasing postseason positioning across golf, soccer and volleyball.
Boys golf chases another Region title
The Bruins boys golf team tees off at the Region Tournament at Franklin Bridge, one round away from the TSSAA State Tournament scheduled for Oct. 7-9 at Sevierville Golf Club.
Brentwood earned its spot by finishing second at the District Tournament on Sept. 22, shooting a team 289 and beating Centennial in a sudden-death playoff hole, according to team results posted by Brentwood Bruins Golf. Page won the district at 272.
Junior Tripp Goodrich led the Bruins with a 66, four under par and second overall. George Laskaris carded an even-par 70, followed by Ben Baas (76) and Luke Vingelen (77).
The boys won the Region Tournament three consecutive years from 2023 through 2025 and own four state championships (2015, 2021, 2023, 2024), according to the program's account. They finished as state runners-up in 2025.
Two girls golfers also compete at Franklin Bridge on Tuesday. Emma Schroder (82 at districts) and Katelyn Verni (89) advanced as individuals after the girls team missed a team berth by two strokes, finishing fourth.
Lady Bruins soccer hosts Father Ryan before district quarterfinals
The Lady Bruins soccer team hosts Father Ryan at 6 p.m. in its final match before the District 10-AAA Quarterfinals on Wednesday, Sept. 30, according to the team schedule.
Brentwood enters with a strong season that includes wins over Rossview (9-0), CPA (6-0), Ensworth (6-1), Nolensville (4-0) and Summit (2-1). The Bruins' lone district loss came Sept. 24 in the Battle of the Woods, a 5-2 defeat to Ravenwood that closed the regular-season schedule. Stella Hooper and Lynlee Nance scored for Brentwood in that match, according to the Williamson Herald.
Head coach Maggie McLaughlin told the Williamson Herald on Sept. 25, the day after the Ravenwood loss, that "the score doesn't necessarily reflect how the game was played, but I am proud of the girl's effort and their hard fight."
If Brentwood advances Wednesday, the District Semifinals are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5, at Ravenwood, with the championship set for Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Volleyball returns to Franklin for rematch
The Brentwood volleyball team travels to Franklin for a 6 p.m. varsity match, with JV play beginning at 4:30 p.m., according to the team schedule.
Franklin swept the Bruins 3-0 at Brentwood on Sept. 9. Head coach Sarah Rucker's squad lost eight seniors from last year's roster, with six now playing college volleyball, and has leaned on a young lineup featuring setter Piper Kelton, junior outside hitter Sela Baldwin, libero Lauren Miller and freshmen Jaiana Haye, Harlie Huskey and Kylie Madsen, according to the Williamson Herald's preseason preview.
Rucker said in August that the district would test every team and that her players needed to stay healthy and mentally prepared for grueling matches throughout the conference schedule.
The District 10-AAA Tournament begins Monday, Oct. 5.
