Penn Doughty earned Boys Performer of the Week honors from the Brentwood High School cross country program after leading all Bruins at the Middle TN Classic on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The meet was held at the Old VA Golf Course in Murfreesboro, an all-grass course with hills and plateaus capped at 25 teams. Awards went to the top 15 varsity finishers.

The program described Doughty's run as a breakout performance it had been expecting, according to a post on X on Monday, Sept. 21.

Freshman Charlotte Shafer earned the Girls Performer of the Week nod from the same meet. The program said Shafer is already making a big impact in her first season.

The Brentwood girls enter the fall as six-time consecutive TSSAA Class AAA state champions. At the Voyles Classic on Sept. 6, the girls won the team title with 48 points and a 19:11 average pace, according to the Williamson Herald.
