Nolensville will honor its veterans with a parade through the Historic District on Saturday, Nov. 7, starting at 11 a.m.
The parade begins at Rolling Hills Community Church and proceeds down Nolensville Road, through the Historic District, ending on Nolensville Park Road, according to the town's event page. The Town of Nolensville posted the event details on Oct. 9, inviting residents to take part.
Residents and groups who want to enter a float or walk in the parade must submit entries by 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, the town said in an Instagram post. Entry forms and a required waiver for all volunteers and parade participants are available on the town's event page.
Candy and other handouts are not allowed along the parade route for safety reasons.
Honoring local veterans
The Town of Nolensville is also collecting veterans' names and service information through a fillable form on its event page. The town plans to compile the submissions into a presentation that will be posted on the town website, giving residents a way to recognize neighbors who served.
As we reported Oct. 9, veterans can register separately for an invite-only breakfast tied to the Nov. 7 celebration. The breakfast and the parade are both part of the town's Veterans Day events, but registration for each is handled through different forms on the event page.
Detour routes
Drivers should expect road closures along the parade route on Nov. 7. The town listed four detour options:
- Kidd Road for southbound Nolensville Road traffic heading to the east side of town
- Brittan Lane for southbound traffic toward Brentwood or the west side
- Rocky Fork Road for northbound traffic
- Sunset Road as an additional alternate
Looking ahead
Nolensville's next parade is the Holiday Parade, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. That event follows the same route from Rolling Hills Community Church through the Historic District to Nolensville Park Road. Entries for the Holiday Parade are due by 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30.
