Nolensville volleyball beat reigning Class AAA state champion Summit in four sets Tuesday, Sept. 29, rallying from a first-set loss on Senior Night.

The victory keeps the Knights' path to the No. 2 seed in the District 10-AAA tournament alive heading into next week's postseason, according to the Nolensville Athletics account on X.

Summit claimed the 2025 Class AAA state title with a five-set win over Brentwood, as the Williamson Herald reported in its August preseason preview. Nolensville won the same crown in 2024, beating Brentwood in the championship match. Tuesday's result was the latest meeting between the district's two most recent state champions.

The comeback capped a strong week for Nolensville. The Knights swept Ravenwood, Independence and Page in straight sets the week before to go 3-0 in district play, according to the team's volleyball account on X. That 4-0 run set up the Senior Night match against Summit with seeding implications on the line.

Head coach Brett Young entered the season with high expectations. He told Nolensville Town Life in August that the Knights returned eight of their top nine contributors from last season. Among the key returners: senior outside hitter Taylor Collins, senior setter Avery Ethridge, junior setter Sadie Deming, senior opposite Kamryn Knox and junior middle blocker Josie Ladd.

"We want to make a run at a district championship," Young said in that August interview. "We want to enjoy the process and journey of the season and when we look back, I want the girls to know and truly feel we left everything we had on the court each night."

In the Williamson Herald's Aug. 20 preseason preview, Young called the district tournament elimination rounds "obviously do or die," adding, "They're going to be against a good team."

Nolensville stood at 10-2 overall and 2-1 in District 10-AAA after a Sept. 2 win over Ravenwood, the last confirmed record before the recent run. The Knights' record entering the tournament has not been officially updated.

The District 10-AAA tournament opens Saturday, Oct. 3, at Page, with additional rounds Monday, Oct. 5, at Summit.
