Senior linebacker Grant Lucas led Ravenwood in tackles during the Raptors' 28-0 shutout of Summit on Friday, Sept. 11, earning the program's Athlete of the Week honor.

The recognition, announced Sept. 17 on the Ravenwood football Instagram account, came with high praise from head coach Ricky Rodriguez. He called Lucas "one of the best ever to play the position of Linebacker at Ravenwood High School."

Lucas has been a varsity player since his sophomore year. Over those three seasons, the Raptors have posted a 29-4 record, according to the program's announcement. That stretch includes a run to the Class 6A state championship game in December 2025, where Ravenwood fell to Oakland 62-21, as reported by MTSU Sidelines.

Rodriguez credited Lucas's character and relentless motor, saying the senior leads the program on and off the field. The coach wrote that he looks forward to watching Lucas anchor a defense that has found its footing this fall.

The Summit shutout marked a turning point. Ravenwood's defense had allowed 44 points across back-to-back losses to Lipscomb Academy and Green Hill in Weeks 2 and 3. Against Summit, the Raptors held the Spartans to 158 total yards, according to the Williamson Herald. Summit's leading rusher, sophomore Miller Wise, managed 98 yards on 16 carries but could not find the end zone.

Fellow senior linebacker Connor Shave described the defensive effort after the Sept. 11 game. "Everyone made sure they did their job," Shave told the Williamson Herald. "We trusted each other to make a play."

Since the Summit win, Ravenwood has kept rolling. The Raptors routed Franklin 56-0 on Friday, Sept. 18, according to MaxPreps. That moved their record to 3-2 on the season.

Ravenwood's Week 6 matchup is at Christ Presbyterian Academy, according to the Tennessean's statewide schedule.
