STARS Basketball Club will hold its fifth annual fundraising dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Wilson Hall at Brentwood Baptist Church.

The event, called "A Night Full of Stars," will feature dinner from Corky's BBQ, a silent auction and two special guests: Vanderbilt guard Tyler Tanner and author David Benham. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with buffet lines starting at 5:45 p.m., according to the Williamson Herald.

Organizers want 300 this year. More than 200 people attended last year's dinner.

Tanner, a Brentwood native, earned first-team All-SEC honors as a sophomore after averaging 19.5 points and 5.1 assists per game during Vanderbilt's 27-9 season. The Commodores reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, their best finish in 33 years, Yahoo Sports reported.

Tanner declared for the 2026 NBA Draft but withdrew on May 27 and announced his return to Vanderbilt for the 2026-27 season with a two-word social media post: "I'M BACK," according to the Nashville Post.

Benham, one half of the Benham Brothers, is a former minor league baseball player and real estate entrepreneur whose books include "Whatever the Cost" and "Living Among Lions."

Founded in 2014, STARS Basketball Club serves about 6,000 athletes each year in kindergarten through 12th grade through competitive teams, camps, clinics and leagues. The nonprofit has provided more than $150,000 in financial assistance to its athletes during the past three years, the Williamson Herald reported.

Club director Lance Akridge is based in Williamson County, where the organization operates its south hub. STARS also runs a north hub in Sumner County.

Residents and businesses can support the event by purchasing individual tickets or table sponsorships, becoming event sponsors or donating silent auction items. Tickets and sponsorship details are available at STARSBB26.givesmart.com. Questions can be directed to Akridge at [email protected].
